TIER 1-The Basics

Introduction to the EW Integrated Mobile Computer Lab System - 3 hrs.

This session offers an overview of your mobile computer lab system with hands-on learning that includes: proper care and maintenance of your laptops, SmartCart/FlexCart, and wireless keyboard; advantages of and how to perform a BatteryBay hot-swap without losing information and closing programs; and classroom management strategies to make the most of your wireless lab. Let's maximize your investment!

Basic Computer Skills - 3 hrs.

Are you new to computers? This session can help you overcome your apprehension and build your confidence.
Learn the basics of computer use including saving and managing files, using disks & CD-ROMs, installing software, creating, formatting & printing documents, sending e-mail messages with attachments, and more.
The first step to using computers with your students is feeling successful in using them yourself!

Using the Internet in your Classroom - 3 hrs.

Find the tools and resources you need to use the internet, to meet educational standards in your classroom.
Learn effective Web searching and evaluation strategies to help you and your students find reliable information.
Explore virtual field trips, CyberGuides, Internet Scavenger Hunts, and WebQuests that correlate with the current curriculum in your classroom.
Locate and evaluate educational Web sites.
Find resources and learn strategies today that you can use tomorrow.

Using WebQuests in your Classroom - 3 hrs.

WebQuests are inquiry-based online activities that foster critical thinking skills.
Motivate your students with these engaging and motivating activities.
During this workshop, participants will learn basic components, while exploring and evaluating existing WebQuests.
Participants collaborate to develop a WebQuest for their own classroom use.

Using Graphic Organizers across the curriculum- 3 hrs

Inspirational & Kidspiration software uses the power of visual learning to strengthen critical thinking, comprehension, and writing skills across the curriculum.
Learn to create concept maps, webs, and other graphic organizers to help students organize information, express thoughts, and deepen their understanding of concepts.
Create templates you can use in your classroom. (Requires prior purchase of software.)

Using Microsoft Office in the Classroom- 3 hrs.

Discover new ways to use the most commonly accessed software package in your classroom.
Go beyond basic word processing to create dynamic newsletters, handouts, and more with Microsoft Word.
Learn to use its "Review and Comment" feature in your writing curriculum.
Use PowerPoint as an instructional tool to deliver instruction, create interactive games, and enhance student presentations.
Streamline administrative tasks and create problem-solving activities with Access and Excel.
Leave with numerous handouts and lots of ideas for your classroom!

Making the Most of your Show & Tell Software - 3 hrs.

This workshop is designed for schools with access to Show & Tell software, through the purchase of our SmartCart Mobile Computer Lab System.
Learn to easily manage student computers and applications, and monitor student activity from your teacher workstation.
Create personalized portfolios to aid in the delivery of lesson content.
Use the embedded Web browser to further enhance your lessons.
Discover the ins and outs of this timesaving management tool!
